The WRT54GL is heavier, so it is better, Q.E.D.
Wireless is a huge pain in the ass if you don't need it. It's subject to interference by pretty much everything, so it's not the best choice if you're streaming or playing games or whatever (unless you're using 802.11a, which runs at a different frequency).

It performs pretty well for now. I use it to stream music tracks to my Squeezebox, in AAC@ 224 Kbps.

Seriously, I got a shiney new D-Link which I will be putting in later this month.. or start of Sept. I broke it in at my brothers place (which is where I bought it).
