Not lately. Well not if you identify with the regime, anyway. Hit bottom in 1917. Then the grand and glorious building of Soviet power, and forced draft industrialization. There were setbacks in 1941, but that was the fault of the west, for not maintaining an active front against Germany, and the USSR quickly recovered and won WW2. It went forth to political, economic and technological triumphs. There were a few economic hiccups in the 1970s, but nothing that couldnt have been handled by a firm hand at the top, like Andropov. Unfortunately traitor-Gorbachev wrecked the system, and he was followed by drunken wrecker Yeltsin, in alliance with the IMF, the Eevil Union, the fascist Reaganites and the eevil Clintonites. But the Lord God Putin has come to the rescue, and HE (and not the world oil market) have saved Russia from bankruptcy, paid off its debt, restored its dignity, and eliminated organized crime (well, sorta). He is now leading it to reassert its natural world leadership, from Latin America to the Middle East to the Pacific. But first there are problems in eastern and central europe that need to be addressed.........

Back to the OP, I do think Maldova is an artificial state and the land should just be given back to Rumania. Most of the Maldovans are ethnic Romanians anyway and they speak Romanian.

The Economist has a political slant? Who would have thought of it?

The Economists slant is most just a free trade and open markets slant though they are at least honest enough to say so right up front.

Every country has a propaganda machine. Heck, even companies have it but they call it public relations.

Right, advocating consenting trade and non interference in bilateral exchanges is now propaganda

Funny how supporters of certain ideologies will always seek for mirror images of their evil concepts in liberal society.
