  • If housing prices relate to school quality - how about paying students to do well?

Ozzy, what you think about this idea?

since home prices have a lot to do with the performance of the school district, why not pay students to improve?

The money paid out, even if sizeable enough to correlate to a decent wage for the extra studying time, would be more than offset by increased property tax receipts.

nah... just get corporate sponsors and have those with A's get points towards merchandise in the $5-$30 range (toys!) with the best performers able to enter a contest for something more substantial like a bike or a psp.

i'm sure thousands of corporations would love to do this... free advertising directly to a quarter million kids per city school district... PLUS you get to look like you really care about the kids.

companies already do this for things like school fundraising through magazine and candy sales. Why not for getting good grades?

    Cash... now that's a f---ing TERRIBLE IDEA!

Students are paid for doing well when they enter the work force and prove what they've learned.

If you spell it, Eat Mor Chiken, it appears you haven't learned much, and you'll be asking about fries.

Students also have a hard time caring about their future when the benefits are a long way off.

AS, the problem with your idea is that kids that don't get A's will just give up. It's a good idea to encourage the cream of the crop but the poor blighters in the middle will get left behind.

This is done to some extent through bursaries and scholarships.
