Bah, this guy, the UN, and a bunch of other nobody gives a flip abouts have all asked for a ceasefire. Until someone with clout, like maybe Wal-Mart, starts calling for it I don't see it happening.

Olmert would have been better off with a smaller scale retaliation if he wasn't willing to do what he said needed to be done.
Well Israel is often criticised for being indecisive.

They want to hurt Hezbullah, but they don't want to jeopardize soldiers so they rely on an air campaign.

Accidents occur and Hezbullah doesn't die, so Israel decides to drop the air campaign and send in some troops without proper aerial support instead, to the largest Hezbullah stronghold reachable.

        8 Israeli soldiers die.

        DOH!!

Israeli decision makers are known to be hesitant and change their minds very often, going from one radically wrong idea to the other.

You can't defeat a dug up guerilla enemy by mere air campaign, unless you're willing to napalm huge areas.

On the other hand, you can't defeat a dug up guerilla in its own territory without losses, if you don't have enough recoinassanse and airpower.

I actually think that given the circumstances, IDF soldiers are doing a marvelous job.

But as Peres said in a cabinet meeting a few days ago: "Make up your mind. Either we're at full scale war to destroy Hezbullah - and then lets roll out everything we've got; or we ultimately want to reach the negociating table, in which case we should carefully choose our strategy".

As I've tried to remind you, it was Iraq scudding Israel in the Gulf War. I realize Iraq is just a suckup to Syria, Syria's b*tch as it were, but they still were the one's launching.

I'm sure everyday children wake up in Tel Aviv screaming:
mommy! I've had a nightmare! Yemen and Kuweit want to destroy us!

Jordan and Egypt are allies of Israel. They've been at peace with Israel for more than 30 years.

Kuwait? Yemen? Herresson put it best.

Libya is hardly a neighbour. Iran is not a neighbour either.

Saudi Arabia doesn't care very much, or they'd be donating a little more than a negligible fraction of their oil money to propping up the Palestinian government.
