  • The Original United States Civil Flag

    http://www.civil-liberties.com/pages...f_the_flag.htm

Through usage, horizontal stripes were adopted for use over military posts and vertical stripes adopted for use over civilian posts.
    A little forgotten tidbit.

Most flag purchase orders were for the military version by the Federal government. Out paced by military purchases, civil flag orders were almost non-existent as the cost was far more than most Americans could afford. Sightings of the Civilian Flag were rarely seen until U.S. Customs adopted the Civil Flag in it's enforcement of tax collection and inspection in ports as opposed to acts of war against merchant ships.
So even back in the nation's youth it was not a widely known flag.

How about us Apolytoners ask Ming and the other higher ups to give us a US Civil flag option for Americans?

The original US flag had an internet adress written on it?

Very observant. While most people think is was Al Gore who invented the internet, historical pix such as this one prove the inventer of the internet was actually Benjamin Franklin.

Let's face it, it's the most obvious remark about that pic. Let's now give Lodi some appreciation.

Posters from Texas and California would not be able to use it anyway

Mostly because it's untrue. The 'civil flag' pictured is the flag of the US Customs Service, which has been mistaken (unintentionally or intentionally to make a point about current political affairs) as some sort of alternative flag to the actual so-called 'military' flag of the US.

The Civil Flag has showed up in very few paintings, and the most touted piece of text which describes it has it flying above, would you know, a building of the Customs Service. The logo on the flag in the OP is that of the Customs Service, with the logo and all. It is an extant historical flag, but it never was intended to be a "Civil Flag" or any flag of the nation, but a flag of the Customs Service. It is still in use in that capacity, and not forgotten at all.

                (See this, this and this.)

Re: Re: The Original United States Civil Flag

US Civil Flags is seeking the restoration of a Common-Law government as defined in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of these united states of America; and the re-institution of a debt and usury-free Gold-based currency coined by the Treasury of these united states.

This is a site that makes money by selling "civilian flags" Nothing wrong with people buying them since its their money but these people are misleading the public by telling them something that isn't true or at least not completely true..

The people at that site of Sprayber's seem to be borderline insane. Even as a Libertarian, there is no way I could see many people supporting their causes. Their sense of history may be distorted in more areas than the history of the "civil flag."

Well, I was wrong about Texas. Seeing that flag I see that you people put sex and T&A right in to your state's name.
