Why on earth did they put the side panel on the right side, I wonder? It was on the left in EU2, right in HOI, left again from then on.
Cake and grief counseling will be available at the conclusion of the test. Thank you for helping us help you help us all!

No question, they were hopeless in air combat, but protected by fighters, they were pretty deadly as bombers.
Maybe it was against fighting ships. Can't say I'm certain, though.

In the right hands they were deadly against ships. The RN had become dominant in the Mediterranean against the Italians so the Luftwaffe sent in Fleigerkorps X, equipped with Stukas and specialising in anti-shipping operations. Result was 2 British armoured deck carriers crippled within a few months. Both spent the best part of a year in refit in US dockyards in consequence and the Axis ran several convoys to North Africa without interference and kept Rommel going.

It's impossible to wage war across an ocean any way you slice it.

What the hell was happening in the Pacific theater, then?

We had islands for staging points and airbases. Hence the need to take Okinawa despite the heavy losses.

And in D-Day we had England as a staging point.

Now if the germans could have used greenland or Newfoundland, they could possible do something. But as it has been mentioned, they were stretched way beyond their means. The country just wasn't large enough to control that much land.

True, but I would still consider that "waging war across an ocean", one that's much wider than the Atlantic. I doubt Germany had the ability to do the same against us (although a Germany that controlled all of Europe may have been very powerful indeed), but to say that waging war across an ocean is simply impossible is ridiculous and runs counter to history.

America has waged plenty or wars across oceans, opposed in two simultaneous cases.

I think you can say England has waged quite a few in the past 300 years.

Never against almost equally strong opponents anyway.

Japan was substantially weaker than the US. The French colonies were substantially weaker than England proper.

And Germany was substantially weaker than America.

Not quite in the same manner, Overlord was much riskier than most other overseas operations. Despite England.

See, the German commander ****ed up. He didn't know he was only supposed to give the "Dine" order while on U-boats and not while on Aircraft Carriers.
