          • So let me se if I follow this thread correctly Walmart sux b/c it dares to behave with predatory pricing and the resultant strain it places on competitors and suppliers. Yet this same strategy was a failure in Germany for Walmart who already has even more predatory competitors thus Walmart can't compete. And yet Walmart is teh suxor b/c of this.

That's not only Aldi, but pretty much in every super market in Germany. And you don't "pay" for it, but merely insert a coin, which you get back when you return the cart to where it belongs. That's just to prevent that lazy people leave the cart by the parking lot or in the mid of the way. Some people don't use money for that, but a coin sized plastic chip, which works as well.

Everyone has their bags put in the cart by the baggers (you expect them to just leave it there on the counter taking up space when there is an empty cart right next to them?). Just because they haven't reached that level of service in the backwater you come from doesn't mean we don't have it in more civilized areas .

Wal-Mart is a ghetto grocery. Actually grocery stores have dedicated baggers.

                          • On some aisles. At least half the aisles at the local Giant have the cashier as bagger - and that's during the summer, when they hire high-school students to be baggers for cheap.

                            • Well, depends on the supermarket. You won't find a bagger on every aisle, every time. But the better supermarkets will have more baggers/aisle than the worse ones. And usually they'll be those who can't really do anything else (ie, the mentally retarded), so they are providing jobs for people who probably wouldn't be qualified for other work... meaning it's a good thing .

No. I challenge you to find a Wal Mart Supercenter that is dirtier than any standard grocery store.

Even in "real" grocery stores baggers have nearly disappeared. There's no need for them, so take your inefficient anti-profit Communist garbage to some other thread.
