  • Windows weirdness - Help!

So I turned on my computer this morning, but it hasn't finished loading. Or so it seems. None of my startup apps came on (AVG, Zone Alarm, etc.) and my windows task bar never appeared. What teh hell?

Also, I have a new USB flash stick, but Windows doesn't recognize it.

    Help!

I used task manager to turn on Firefox and the firewall. Can't find my antivirus though.

Don't know. Not sure how I'd get to it. Lemme try something.

Well, I found the spot where I can turn system restore off, I haven't, but I don't know how to do one. Control panel? Haven't found that yet.

That 'flash stick' isn't plugged in, is it? I've got a a USB memory stick that buggers up my start-up if it's plugged in when the machine is switched on.

And that's assuming a Restore Point has been made.

Easily done when you have a task bar.

                  Try this:

                  Ctrl-Alt-Del

                  Select file, then run.

Type explorer in the box and you should get your task bar back.
We're sorry, the voices in my head are not available at this time. Please try back again soon.

By default, restore points are made on a daily basis.

Just after you turn your computer on, start hitting F8. You'll get a boot menu. Choose safe mode and run system restore that way.

Not if it's turned off. See Che's statement.

If you read it again you'll see that he said he hadn't turned it off.

Why yes, yes it was. I unplugged it, restarted, and Explorer is back . . . for now.
