  • Does anybody today dare to make "The God Who Wasn't There" about Islam ?

Inspired by the documentary on Christ's alleged non-existence called "The God Who Wasn't There" , I am making this thread .

There are three questions here I ask .

    1) Does any independent filmmaker have to guts to make a movie like this about Mohammed , his life and times , and the contradictions in the accounts of his life and teachings , considering the reign of terror the Muslims have unleashed across the media and art world ? Examples are the brutal murder of Theo van Goth ( in whose blood a message was written ) , the death fatwa against the Danish cartoonists , the offer of 51,00,00,000 Rupees for the heads of the Danish cartoonists , the death fatwa against Slaman Rushdie , and the persecution of Taslima Nasrin , of Anwar Sheikh , and of Ibn Warraq .

    2) If an independent filmmaker does make such a film , how will it be received in the Muslim world ? Will the Muslim world dismiss it as the Christians have "The God Who Wasn't There" , as just another cross they have to bear ? Or will the Muslim world react violently , like they did to the Danish cartoons , rioting and rampaging and causing property damage to all symbols of Western civilisation ? Or will the reaction be even more severe , in the form of death fatwas against the filmmaker and attempts to assassinate him ?

    3) How will the European and Americal "liberals" react to it ? As they did to "The God Who Wasn't There" , or by denouncing the filmmaker as anti-Muslim ? How will this forum react to it ? How will you react to it ?

Let us say that such a film is made , and it is called "The Allah Who Wasn't There" .

The poll question is : How have you reacted to "The God Who Wasn't There" , and what will your reaction be to "The Allah Who Wasn't There" ?

EDIT : Positive means that you like it , negative means you dislike it . This deals entirely with how you , the voter on the poll , reacts to the two movies .

      Vedic literature is MASSIVE.

I would like to see such a movie about Islam but it would never get made. Muslims aren't as enlightened as many other people and would not tolerate it.

I'm tempted to say "Oh no, not again", but instead I'll say :

        1. No
        2. Badly
        3. Mixture of 'Ooh, we shouldn't upset them ' and 'Aaaaargh, let us say what we want '

A movie like that should be made by the clearly superior Hindus.

A pro-Islamic film based upon the life of Mohammed was made by an Arab-American filmmaker back in the 60's or early 70's. Although it never showed Mohammed himself (scenes with him in it were shot from Mohammed's point of view), it was very controversial in the Muslim world because it came close to blasphmously showing the Prophet.

You want it to include lots of songs and dances, sentimental love scenes, etc, etc?

So Im taking POTM on some errands, and she tells me shes hungry - i thought she had dinner. So we go into a neighborhood Indian restaurant. "Make the biryani mild, please" They have a giant screen, playing what looks like music videos, or something. POTM, who likes bright colors, and creative, over the top anything, finds it very interesting. "You can see why the Taliban banned Bollywood films" "So daddy, what Kashmir all about?" "You dont seem to have eaten your biryani" "its too hot" "well, we seem to be the only non-Indians here, next time we should go somewhere more 'touristy'"
