I think about my salary regularly, don't know about you ...
And since I know my finances are unlimited for all intents and purposes, I usually don't keep track of what I spend in each port either. Hard to answer this question, as I think about most of those services, because I am a firm believer in public services, and I usually use them as examples to prove my points when doing political propaganda.
One of the points I don't think about too much is personal safety. It's better that we have cops than if we didn't have any. Now, if we could spare some money to actually teach our cops how to do their jobs properly (most young cops are unexperienced cowboys over here), that would be a good thing.
I also don't think too often about road and sewer maintenance, but it's fricking essential. While in Bamako, I've seen what it means when public spending doesn't fill this function."I have been reading up on the universe and have come to the conclusion that the universe is a good thing." -- Dissident

"I have never cut off my penis when I was upset over a girl." -- Dis

The important thing is that the authorities still control the provision of these services, albeit using private contractors, and that's the way it should be.
When Kosovo was 'liberated' no-one collected any rubbish for months. OTOH, the free market moved extremely quickly in the markets of money-laundering gas stations, heroin, guns and sex slaves.

Interstate highways (hell, any roads or highways for that matter)“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
