Thinking back over women rulers, I can't help but wonder if they are perceived as weak and therefore make themselves the targets of invasion or coups:
Lady Jane Gray -- overthrown
Queen Mary -- beheaded (IIRC)
Elizabeth I -- attacked by the Spanish Armada
Golda Mier -- attacked in the Yon Kippur War
Indira Gandhi - War with Pakistan
Maggie Thatcher -- Falklands War
Lilioukalani (last Queen of Hawaii) - overthrown
Catherine the Great -- war with the Turks
Empress Maude (Richard the Lion's grandma) -- civil war by her nephew (IIRC).Comment
