(e) Traditional cultural response to violence against women in most of the world has been that it must be the woman's fault.

(f) On average, men are significantly larger, stronger, faster, have greater height and reach and can do far more damage with less risk. Yes, some whiny little prat here can come up with some hypothetical situation of a 6 foot tall muscular woman who is a 5th dan black belt kicking some mousy guy's ass, but in the real world, 95% plus percent of the time, the woman gets beat, and gets beat as hard as the man feels like "teaching the ***** a lesson."

Look @ what happened with the B. Myers situation (Myers is a MLB pitcher who was arrested for beating his wife in public - there were multiple eye-witnesses who confirmed he was punching her in the face and dragging her by her hair). Several days later, he made his scheduled start at Fenway Park against the Red Sox. Only later did the team think "oh, hmm, he did something bad, perhaps we should deal with it" and sent him away to get "counseling" or somesuch. I believe that he's quietly back with the team now.

Because on the average, a woman can't really damage a man. I am talking about unarmed combat here, of course, between two untrained persons of average height, weight, and in similar age groups.
