I don't mean my usual beer consumption. But maybe I go after the meeting, should be still nice in the med then (weather).

No plan for now, I'll just take some last-minute offer. I always wanted to see more of the ME, but that's out currently, so maybe some Greek Island.

I hear Beirut is a Geheimtip right now. And cheap!

All you guys, I invite you! You have a 1.5 years to plan, no excuses! >>>Remember my offer to come to Bohol!<<< Figure on a month at least. I can offer you each a bed, so no expense there. We have 5 bedrooms and 4 unused beds in a college girls dorm thing, a little side business we have next to the house. We can pull those beds into the house, you'll have to figure a way into the dorm on your own. Good luck with that btw, Dolores is on guard.

So no shortage of beds, no hotels needed. Just kick in for food and expenses, the usual little stuff. Bottled water, cooking gas, electric, whatever you use.

Nearby we have diving so bring snorkle, fins and goggles. Also on Bohol there is the Chocolate Hills and Tarsius monkey. Bohol is one of the big tourist destinations in the Phils. Lots of euros go there. Right in Jagna there is a 400+ year old Spanish church, amazing building with flying butresses and frescos.

May is fiesta time and the best time to visit. Another good time is Christmas, everyone decorates that can afford, and we're often there for that. Lots of carolers!

Also in May the # of unused girls dorm beds goes to 10 as the girls go home for fiesta. So we would have 4 extra private bedrooms for couples and 10 beds for singles. We have a housekeeper but will need one or two more which might cost a few (10?) bucks each which you give directly to them.

Not sold on the trip yet?

You can get three beers for $1, out.
A fifth of 12 yr old Tanduay export quality rum in the black box with gold lettering, $2.50

If accomodation is free and living is cheap, I might actually go for flying over for a week or two

As it will take maybe 30 or more hours of traveling each way, I suggest a month. I did 2 weeks first time out and it's just not enough.

                  Living IS cheap!

We have our own rocky beach complete with tiny bamboo cottage to hang out at too.

                    I shall consider it.

                    30 hours from central Europe?

                    • 17 hours + 1 stop from Berlin to Ninoy Int'l at Manila. How long is it from there?

                      • You're not going to Poland you know.

I have a good discounter in Portland that got us tickets from the West Coast for $1000, round trip. Don't know if they can sell tickets in europe.

Do you have a globe Ecthy? Is central europe farther? I'd guess you'll go the other way 'round.

                        • It seems I can get round trip for €1,100 if I fly this month, so it should be quite cheap in May of 2008.

                          • From Manila it's maybe 1.5 hours by plane Dolores informs me. One alternative is a cruise ship, cost maybe $70 for a cabin w/ really basic meals included. That takes 32 hours but you arrive showered and rested. Plus you've watched the tropical islands go by and chatted with people and have ideas what you're interested in.

I say cruise but it's not what you would take to go see the sights of Norway. In an island nation the ships are people transporters. The ships have lounges where you can get drinks and sit down eaterys, but its more basic than our luxury boats.

                            • That price seems spendy. I flew from Eugene to San Fran to Hong Kong to Cebu, round trip for $1000 last time out. That was before fuel went through the roof, but still...

                              • There's WG&A also but I can't find their site.

Pics Zkrib took during the last Phils Polymeet...

You'll see lots of posts by my friend Ted Striker. He sent the first $200 to get the very first help to Safronia Mills that she ever had since her Canadian husband abandoned her, pregnant with their child, in this third world country.

Zkrib gave the most of anyone for the Apolyton House, and Theben the most crap about it being a rip off, or so he says, I don't recall that part. He did contribute to the ripoff a couple of times. AH was the biggest impediment to building the place, though the confrontation added to the general knowledge of the effort, so likely it helped. DanQ and Marcos were helpful as well.

That's my Ted Striker if anyone wants to know. True hero without whom that house for the poor might never have happened.

This is a Berlin thread so I'll shut up now.
