  • [SIZE=1] but if you ever happen to arrive there again, tell them that no matter what they feel towards their neighbours to the south, the feelings are reciprocated on an indvidual basis.
What about the lebanese underground allies and the maronites? (altough after blowing up the airport I don think they will be very friendly)

Isnt south lebanon by the way, pretty much full of palestinian refugees

trust me, if we invade southern lebanon by foot, these civilian casualties will be a drop in the ocean, and it would be seen as a much more severe operation by the "intl. community", no matter what you say.
BS... The international community is more pissed off that you morons decided to bomb the freaking airport in the north of the country when Hezbollah is in the south of the country. And that you are blaming the government of Lebanon for what Hezbollah did... makes any claims that you are just looking for peace really look like lies now.

      • I don't think there is an actual debate. I think it's quite the concensus. And the approach of the intl. community isn't helping. Your "calls for restraint" and "demands that the hostages be released" is making me laugh, and Nasserallah, Hizbullah's chief, is laughing, too.

It seems that after the positive gestures we've made in Gaza and Lebanon, all we've got was that the threats approached our homes. No order, no nothing, only the election of Hamas ( because of the corruption, of course, not because there is overwhelming support to their intl. policies ), and the shelling of Israeli cities - to which we are supposed to "react proportionately" - which is the most stupid advice ever- after all, "winning a war" is a grossly disproportionate response, no proportionate response ever led to the end of violence. To make it quite clear, I am currently at my parents' place in Haifa, and I can see the theatre of action from my window. My flatmate's mom and brother saw rocket artillery shells falling in their home in Tzfat.

If Olmert was considering withdrawing from the west bank, too, I think this is way off the shelf now, for example, and from a position where there is majority support for such a withdrawal, there is an overwhelming majority to the opposite.

Actually, I think it's quite clear that the intl. community is pissed about civilian deaths, and so does the leadership in Israel. Otherwise, we could've employed some rocket artillery of our own.

Btw, Hizbullah is not in the south of the country. the airport is surrounded by their base of strength, and is being used by them, as well. And we are blaming the govt. of Lebanon for what Hizbullah did because we're doing this by the book - We're attacked from a sovereign nation, by forces that it harbors - it's its government's fault. The government can't do jack ****? would you like us to try to change it, again? or just wait?

that's why I said "reciprocated on an individual basis" - if you want to befriend us, we share the centiment. If you want to fight us, we're ready.

btw, I think something just blew up somewhere near.

          good times...

Before the initial capture, how often did the Palestinians tried to capture Israeli soldiers, instead of killing them outright?

Prior to yesterday's katyusha bombings by the Hizbullah, how long has the Hizbullah not shelled anything in Israel?

Well, after you took out your anger on northern Lebanon, who wasn't involved and isn't friends of Hezbollah, I don't think many with sympathize with you here.

Indeed... you'd think, by now, the Isrealis would realize that the only reason Hezbollah captured an Isreali soldier is because they saw the response in Gaza and want similar in Lebanon. That way, most likely, the Lebanese will rally around Hezbollah (whose popularity had been waning) and Syria may be able to reenter.

yeah, but it is involved, and it is friends with Hizbullah. Shia don't live just in the south, Beruit is full of them...

Are you in Haifa? It's being reported as breaking news here that several rockets have just fallen on Haifa, after Hezbollah threatened earlier today to bomb the city. TV-station "Channel 10" is being cited as the source.

Do take care in these circumstances AZ, if you can. Even moreso than usual.

"It is involved", yeah in the we can't do anything about you because we aren't strong enough way. Bombing the airport and other targets in north Lebanon is just going to make the pro-Hezbollah viewpoint grow.
