    I do not see "terrorism".
What exactly do you think 'murder... committed against any civilian population' is?

Iraq has its own goverment(supposedly). Its their problem, not ours.
Most people in Gitmo are from Afghanistan, which didn't really have a government when we took them. I doubt there are many from Iraq there at all. Iraqi terrorists are most likely in Iraqi prisons all over the country.

In fact even Al Qaeda captured in Iraq are not sent to Gitmo. Afaik no one has been sent from Iraq to Gitmo, that has been the policy since the git-go.

The very first thing that is needed is to define the charges against them.

Up to today,US of A has fail to give an official reason to hold them. I mean officially.
Who are they, or what are they?
Prisonner of war? Terrorists? Suspects of terrorism? Plotting against a state?
On which american or international law are they kept prisonner?

The reason why the world is angry on Gitmo is that there are there human beings hold prisonner without charge or official reason.

You think they are terrorists? Well, maybe they are, so why the hell don't you say it?
Suspect of terrorism? Ok, possibly. Tell it, d****.
Prisonner of war? Great, say it!

How can we tell what to do with them, while neither the US government, nor the US army has given an official reason to hold them.
Prisonner of war? Then Geneva convention applies. And see the post of Vesayen.
Suspect of terrorism? Great, then put them in jail, maybe a trial, but find out if they are guilty or innocent.
Terrorist? Good, then jail again, trial and sentence.
Dangerous for the state security? Ok, elaborate a bit, find a law to sentence them.

But today, their status is best defined as punchbag Bob for frustrated marines on vacation in Gitmo.

In most cases? Murder is murder. That is the Iraqi and Afghani's problem if they want to charge them, not us. They did not murder our civilians. Of those, who murdered civilians of course. It seems we might of been just picking guys off the battle field with reckless abandon in Afghanistan.
