Anyone actually claim "credit" for this yet? Seems strange to set up something so evil to terrorize people and then not say you did it.

Betcha a billion dollars its al Qaeda (or a copy cat).

Simulaneous strikes, soft target, planned to maximize civilian casualties. This has got Osama's fingerprints all over it.

First off, my condolences to the people affected by this attack. I hope Aseem (sp?) is okay. Does he live in Mumbai.

As for who did the bombings, the attackers might be muslim, sikh, separatists from northeast Indian states, Kashmiri rebels, and so on. Best to wait and see before assigning blame.

Madrid, London, Bombay... maybe it's a good thing the US doesn't have a functional commuter rail network.

It's definitely not the Sikhs - that insurgency is over. It's not the Northeastern rebels (ULFA) either, this was way too sophisticated and they don't attack targets outside the Northeast.

Kashmiri insurgents with foreign involvement (probably Al Qaeda), definitely.

Instead it has a very functional and easy to use air transport network.

Besides the bombs probably will escalate things, Mumbai will be hell for a long time - 6 mill daily commuters that has to find other ways to get around.

Quite unfortunate thing to happen by the sounds of it.

The death total is 160 now, with more than 400 wounded.

My heart goes out to the people of India and Mumbai. I hope that they can avoid escalating into an even greater cataclysm.

I think you're thinking of aneeshm.

You ever seen Indian train commuters? Hanging off the sides, riding on top. It's a perfect kill zone.
