Fantasy Stock – Steady

2006 Outlook – After breaking out in 2004 (89 catches, 1,382 yards and 12 TDs), things have gone down hill for Javon Walker. A torn ACL ended his season in ’05 and contract disputes with Green Bay forced the team to trade him away to Denver. Walker immediately becomes the Broncos #1 wide receiver, however, with Rod Smith lined up on the opposite side of him and an offense that is known for their running game, don’t expect Walker to put up the same numbers he did in ’04.

Interestingly enough my pick of Javon Walker was also the 18th WR picked in this draft. I hadn't even read that.

Still, I think we'll see more from Walker than that blurb seems to suggest. Rod Smith is old, and while they are a running offense Walker is looking for a long term contract with this team. With Lelie being a baby Shanahan knows he needs to find a No. 1 and will be testing his WRs this year. I expect at least 1,000 yds from Walker this year, if his knee holds up.

Jul 10 Nick Eatman, of DallasCowboys.com, reports Dallas Cowboys QB Drew Bledsoe is ready for the challenge and opportunity of having WR Terrell Owens as a teammate. The addition of Terrell Owens should make Bledsoe's life easier, at least between the whistles. Owens is still one of the NFL's most electrifying players, and when he's atop his game, he can make just about any quarterback look good. However, Owens has also had his share of problems with quarterbacks. Bledsoe said he understands that wide receivers want the ball, and added he prefers it that way over the contrary. "To me, I want my receivers to want the football on every play," Bledsoe said this summer. "That's the mentality of the great wide receivers. They want the ball all the time because they think they're going to make the best play. In his (Owens') case, he is one of the best players in the game. It's going to be my job to get him the football. It's something I look forward to."

Drew is such a buttmunch. I bet the first time Owens mouths off about him he'll change his tune.
