    I like it-- By both raising the age and widening the "close in age" exemption, they are trying to avoid criminalizing regular teen relationships that become sexual.

    They seem to be going after the predator guys. As it was a predator guy could totally proposition a 14 year old and if they went along, no crime was committed.

    I'm in my 30s and the idea of an adult having sex with a 15 yr old just seems so very wrong to me. Now I know that there are some exceptionally beautiful females at that age that look fully developed etc but thats why they should ( and I believe they have) retain the "mistake of fact" defence. Thats the one where you REASONABLY and truly believe in a state of facts which, if true, would make your actions not criminal. So if you pick up a girl in a bar in a situation where it would never occurr to you that she was less than EIGHTEEN, you can boink her brains out and should not be charged.

      As long as there's a "close in age" exemption I'm happy.
