It's not like the WTC were particularly attractive, either. Did they deserve a medal as well?

After all, as Bill Maher said, those that flew into the building weren't cowards...

Al-Qaida in Iraq claimed responsibility for killing the soldiers, and said the successor to slain terror leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi had "slaughtered" them, according to a Web statement that could not be authenticated. The language in the statement suggested the men had been beheaded.
Well, there's your relevant paragraph. "Al-Qaida in Iraq" -- an entity that didn't exist until we invaded.

But let's take it one step further. What's wrong with what they did? Sure, its brutal, but they're fighting a war. Oh, what's that? Even war has rules that combatants are supposed to follow?

        Okay, then; one word: Gitmo.

It's a little difficult for us to feel outrage about this when we've so brashly announced that the Laws of War no longer apply. We need to make up our freakin' mind.

Did you even read the thread or did you just respond to what you think/wish people had said?

That's unbelievably offensive, and not just for the fact that you don't understand the impressive architectural feat the tower was when it was built...

Speaking of kidnappings, has anyone heard what happened to the Russian diplomats abducted in Iraq a few weeks ago?

What happened to the South Korean sailors taken off their ships off the coast of Somalia?

Are you talking about the south korean oil workers captured (working for Royal Dutch Shell)? They were freed.

I don't really see the basis for drawing moral equivilancies between the 2 sides. Perhaps you could expand a little.

They're not morally equivalent. But what I'm saying is, if our position in fighting the War on Terror is "anything goes," then its hard to condemn somebody else taking the same position in the same war -- especially when they're invoking moral superiority as their justification, too.

Its certainly a tragedy for the families, but I fail to see why this action is any worse than 2 soldiers dying from an IED in their humvee.

Sure, makes a more compelling story, but nothing more than that.

This kind of double talk is what is confusing me. First you say they aren't morally equivilant yet you say they are in the next breath. It's all the more befudling when our position quite clearly isn't that anything goes.
