    What the frick else does this family have to go through...

    Most of you might remember a few months back when I told you about my ex-husband killing himself. My ex-sister-in-law(kelli) whom I'm extremely close to, called me to tell me that my other sister-in-law (her sister Karen) and her husband were killed in a head on collision. For any of you that are in Austin it's on the front page of the metro and state section of the newspaper. You know I was just begining to deal with his death and now this. Sometimes you wonder why tragedy hits one family so hard and to top everything off tomorrow is Kelli's 40th birthday. Man do I need a drink.

    Abject sorrow is all I can say or feel right now.

      Yeah. Makes you greatful for every breath. It was a fluke. The person that hit them had a tire blow out and they had a 7 year old in the car. Their family husband is in critical condition, wife is in fair condition and the child was uninjured that goodness. Just when you think everything is going good and your starting a new job and life is good.....poof!

      Just makes me greatful for everyday I wake up and breathe. It's another day to try and get it right and tell the people I love that I love them. Let the ones you love know you love them. This is a prime example of you never know what is going to happen when you pull out of that driveway in the morning. In the blink of an eye your life can change.

        Several years ago one of our nurses was shot to death by her boyfriend in the clinic parking lot. It turned out that her brother, the family's only other child had been shot to death at a party a few years earlier, so guns in the hands of impulse control challenged men had turned the parents into a childless couple.

          Like I said.....you never know when you wake up what the day is going to bring you. The one I feel for is my ex's mom. First she looses her son then less the 8 months later her sister gets killed in a car crash. She's got to be one strong woman to endure all of this. Just be greatful for every moment you have, it could all change.

                Yup this year has been a real treat. But I'm consistantly amazed at the human capacity to bounce back from the abyss and just keep going. I see it every day in my work with dying patients and yet, still I'm amzed that we don't just give up and cave in when things like this happen.

                    YOu know what Tiamat, it's seems so surreal and overwhelming even to the other side of the glove, through the internet!

                    I won't even try to find words to .. comment these things anymore, they wouldn't do any justice, not anymore.

                    Anyway, once you get hit by a wave, it still hurts to get hit again, that never changes. But the determination grows, plus the appreciaton for life I guess.. I don't know how that is. You'd know a lot better. Puts things on perspective for little whiny *****es like me.

                    If these things makes a person stronger, I guess you'll be stronger than wonderwoman pretty soon.
