I always got a Windows CD with mine. In fact, they always gave me the CDs for all the software that came preinstalled.

I hate all that crap. I always reformat and install my illegal copy of windows (since I never seem to get sent a windows CD with new computers ).

Although I'd recommend not using Internet Explorer, but that goes without saying.

I had no locked registry keys on my Dell. No hidden partisian either. I bought mine three years ago though.

Mine too. I uninstalled Dell's preinstalled junk but it only took about 5 minutes. You'd have to be one of the "special" people for that to take 3 hours.

I just got a new harddrive. That got rid of all Dell's crap.

But I aslo bought this computer 4 years ago, so a lot must have changed.

Maybe you missed the part where he said it wasn't Dell and he had accidently blamed Dell for a different company's actions?
