  • Panic! at the Disco.

I went to X-fest XII (a local music festival) last Saturday evening where I saw The Cult, Dashboard Confessional, Franz Ferdinand, Panic! at the Disco, Echo & the Bunnymen, She Wants Revenge, Hard-Fi, The Sounds, Reeve Oliver, The Stranger's Six, and OK Go. To my surprise Panic! at the Disco was by far the best show on the stage that night.

I thought I'd like Franz Ferdinand the most but they seemed to just be going through the motions instead of really getting into their music, She Wants Revenge was actually pretty good, but Panic! at the Disco went way out of their way to include various actors/esses on the stage, lots of extra lights and pyrotechnics. They were by far the best. Anyone else seen Panic! at the Disco live or know of another band which just totally put on an awesome live show?

The event organizers sure did know how to ripe people off with $9 24oz Coors Lites though. At least parking was free.

Honestly, I love Panic! At the Disco, if only for a few of their song titles.

Lyrics are good too, such as that one chorus, "Haven't you people ever heard of / Closing the goddamn door / But no, it's better to approach these things / With a sense of poise and rationality."

I think I like "Time to Dance" best.

Franz Ferdinand is one of the worst live bands, ever. I like a couple of their songs (but they get old FAST, as with most crappy "indie" music that is too simple for its own good), though.

But their performance on SNL was just so god-awful that I can no longer like the band.

After seeing them live I must agree. They were just boring to watch and they didn't seem that interested in their own music. It was like they'd done it so many times they were bored.

Gee, at least pretend for the people who paid for the concert. That's what you're supposed to do in show biz.
