  • Finally! Google Earth Scanned New Zealand!!

    The Powerful Waimakariri!

So if you have never been here and wanted to see "Middle Earth", now you can get a good glimpse!

I'm starting to wonder if the whole NZ being Middle Earth thing is why Google Earth has these scans at all.

Sweet...I'll have to see if they have more than just the north shore of Auckland now.

What!? There are no freeways in Middle Earth! But what's that in the first photo?? It's certainly no well trodden orc trail.

Is it just me, or does anyone else have a powerful urge to build a grand manor on the island in that fjord and live like a great laird, swilling brandy out of a crystal goblet and ordering the harried servants around?

Why does your coutrny look so fake?
Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

Because...until you go there, you don't realize that such beauty exists in this world.

                      Its a large river/rapids

there are thousands of stony islands all the way through it, which is why the many water streams look so snake-like.

                          of course!

Back in the day, when England and France were out settling, there was a large race between the two to settle New Zealand, unfortunately for France, England won the race by a large margin, France was left with a few hotspots, like Akaroa, it's a nice getaway town not far form Christchurch, sits in the middle of one of the world's oldest volcanoes.

There was a bit of a one. It's one of the reasons why the Brits pushed on with getting the Treaty of Waitangi signed. Apparently a French guy was on the way out here to claim some part of the North Island as the property of France. Or so we are taught.
