  • Is ebay going into a fit?

    I registered with ebay and put up for sale a copy of MS Windows 2003, this is legal right? I can do a search for it and find thousands available.

    Next day I get an email saying my account is disabled because I violated the User Agreement, Section 8.

    So I read Section 8:

    =================
    Access and Interference
    The Site contains robot exclusion headers. Much of the information on the Site is updated on a real-time basis and is proprietary or is licensed to eBay by our users or third parties. You agree that you will not use any robot, spider, scraper or other automated means to access the Site for any purpose without our express written permission.

    Additionally, you agree that you will not:

    take any action that imposes or may impose (in our sole discretion) an unreasonable or disproportionately large load on our infrastructure;

    copy, reproduce, modify, create derivative works from, distribute, or publicly display any content (except for Your Information) from the Site without the prior expressed written permission of eBay and the appropriate third party, as applicable;

    interfere or attempt to interfere with the proper working of the Site or any activities conducted on the Site; or

    bypass our robot exclusion headers or other measures we may use to prevent or restrict access to the Site.

    =================

    OK, check, did not violate Section 8.

    So I try to contact ebay to resolve the problem. Along the way trying to find their contact, I find a "Why am I blocked?" link, I click on that, and it brings me to another page with a "your account was suspended, blah blah blah; To see why, click here. So I click there, and the url is http:/// great, so the link doesn't even work.

    So I go back to email them, AND I HAVE TO LOGIN TO EMAIL THEM!! How to do that when my account is suspended!? I thought ebay were on top of their game? Their website is still ****ty as it was the first time I saw it (like 5 years ago) and clearly the website is full of bugs/mistakes.

    Are you sure that was a legit email?

    Most emails like that are completely fake, and are just spammers/spyware/etc.

        A Contact Phone Number For eBay

        Does a contact phone number for eBay really exist? Or are they a mythological company that hides behind the anonymity of the internet and have no phone service?

        If you've ever been aggravated with eBay and wanted to talk to a “live person”, you will be happy to know that such a contact phone number really exists for eBay.

        Before using eBay's phone number, though, here are some points to keep in mind:

        1. You are well advised not to use the eBay phone number until you have tried the online contact forms first. Go to the front page of eBay and click on the “Help” link at the right top. Why? Because using the eBay contact phone number first can aggravate the personnel and predispose them against you. They will ask you what you've done before contacting them, and they will tell you to go back and fill out forms before they will help.

        2. eBay knows that they could keep an army of thousands busy on the phone, so if the call volume gets too extensive, they will simply change their phone numbers and we won't be able to contact them in dire emergencies. (Check the online yellow pages and you will see that they are not listed)

        3. When/if you use the eBay phone number, you will discover that the best you can do is leave a message. No one answers these phones. So, will they call you back? A loud and affirmative “Maybe”!

        Having said all that, here are the eagerly awaited phone number for you to contact eBay (drum roll ...)

        1-800-322-9266
        1-888-749-3229

        You may also try
        1-408-558-7400

        In case you might need it, (when you've lost it and are beating your head against the wall), you might try snail mail:

        2145 Hamilton Avenue, # 350
        San Jose, CA 95125

        Their company hours are 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM, Pacific time.

        Of course, there's one sure way to get a contact phone number for ebay: become a Power Seller. Power Sellers have a pipeline to real live people. There are 5 levels of power sellers, and the top four have access to toll free phone numbers

          How fit is eBay?

            Why are you wasting your time?
            I will never understand why some people on Apolyton find you so clever. You're predictable, mundane, and a google-whore and the most observant of us all know this. Your battles of "wits" rely on obscurity and whenever you fail to find something sufficiently obscure, like this, you just act like a 5 year old. Congratulations, molly.

              I remember once trying to buy a game of Talisman on e-Bay. One was for sale @ $400. HolyJimmineyCricket!! $400 bucks for a board game. Twenty, maybe thirty if I really wanted it bad. But $400. Someone has to have more dollars than sense to make such a bid.

                Windows licenses are non-transferrable IIRC.

                      Its a new login - who cares? Just register a different name.
