I just picked up Frontline 2 & 3, and ASM 533. Amazing stuff. I love it.

Maybe I've just not read comics in a while so I've missed a trend, but this story really seems to be taking comics to a higher place. I mean hell, they are quoting Plutarch and some WW1 era poet. This isn't good vs. bad, this is an ambigious conflict between two shades of gray with good arguments all around. It is beautifully written and conceived I just love it.

And the paralells to real life... damn, spot on. They are using the term "unregistered combatants" now. And Speedball was totally in Guantanimo. This is very, very well done.

Picked up CW #3 today. Looks like the pro-registration people just got one Hell of a trump card.

Couldn't keep up. Allways hated the Marvel's "this Amazing Spider-Man story is continued in Stupendous Fly-Person, be sure to subscribe that too, and the New Hex-Men, which also has some relevant stuff".
I've allways wanted to play "Russ Meyer's Civilization"

I dont read comics like I used to, but my friend who was huge into Marvel and Spiderman got completely turned off Marvel by Civil War. He reads DC exclusively now.

If it's any consolation to your friend, Spider-Man eventually realized how big he screwed up and joined the side fighting for freedom.

He was more upset with the Thor character, if I recall. I didnt even know Thor was a comic book character.

Tell him that the Thor in Civil War was a robot, not the "real Thor." In the end, that robot Thor is destroyed.

Marvel has incorporated Norse mythology into their universe. Thor has been a major Marvel character since the early 1960s.

Yeah, Marvel has both Greek and Norse gods around for story arcs if they need them.

Everyone is "shipped off to prison without trial", unless you seriously think a bunch of lunatics with super powers aren't "flight risks" in between the arrest and the trial.

Show a canon instance of even a single trial happening. I also kinda think Osborn being put in charge of enforcing the Act gives rise to all kinds of questions of how just it is.
