For once Lurker was right. It was the best deli I ever went to. BTW I second the highlight tour of the Met. I spent 8 hours in the Met and barely saw 1/4 of the place. It is ABSOLUTELY massive and it NEVER ends. Make sure you see the hall of armor.

i was there back in 2001, and it was down to only a couple of blocks. the time before that, back in the day down in the city for a school trip, i ended up buying a cup of coffee for Mister Gotti.

I know the Met is waaaaay too big to see in one day, but that's all we have. She said they currently have a Tibetan Arms and Armor exhibit that sounds interesting. That's one of the reasons I love this woman, she finds archaic weaponry cool. You're not getting any pictures, though. She's not big on having her pics all over the internet. If it helps, she's short, with long brown hair, freckles, and bright greenish eyes. And, seeing as she doesn't frequent this site, I'll venture to add that her rack is superb. But I fell for her after only seeing her face.

WRT NYC: I suppose the Guggenheim (the building itself) is pretty neat. And the one time I went to the Bronx Zoo, well, it's in a crappy location but it's a great zoo. As for the rest of it? A bunch of tall grey historic buildings, plus those smarmy broadway musicals. I don't know about cuisine since Wong Kee went under, we always ate there. I'll see if she wants to try some Uzbek.

And I'm sorry, but the NY subway really is inferior to the DC Metro. People down here complain about the Metro, but it's infinitely cleaner, safer, and more reliable. The last time I was in NY, a whole branch of the subway was shut down and we had to hoof it from "Joe's Ginger" (yuk) back up to Central Park. That was a real schlep.

If youre into arms and armor, the Met has a pretty sizeable collection of Western Arms and armor as well. Havent been in years - theres a huge amount of great stuff, from Greek Pottery, to Tiffany glass, to well, everything.

Havent eaten on the upper east side in years, but if you walk over to , I guess, 3rd avenue, theres gads of restaurants there, serving every concievable cuisine to the local yuppies.


The subway is less pleasant the DC metro, but it goes EVERYWHERE (pretty much) .

Off-off Bway, man. Cheap tickets, creative stuff, unless its all changed, which I doubt.

does she like things medieval? The cloisters, then. Great collection, beautiful, romantic, location, overlooking the Hudson.

New York Magazine recommends Cafe Boulud on the upper east side. A two course lunch averages around $20 which is expensive but supposedly worth it. I still vote for going to Katz then catching a bus or subway to the Met.

Broadway is supposedly booming this year and remember that last year was the best year ever in terms of audiences and revenue. They've stopped showing the shows which were designed for everyone to like and instead have moved towards specialty shows customized to appeal to different ethnic and socio-economic groups. It has worked and it's packed the broadway shows.
