It's sad. The Iraqi people seem to be closer to reality than the Bush administration.
Just like Vietnam, but different. We will win nearly every battle but lose the war. Just wait. You'll see.
Best to withdraw while we can, save money and lives, work towards peace with the Muslim world... we're going to make terrorism a bigger problem in the future than it is now.
The problem of terrorism is not the terrists vs America... as most people see it. It's a philosophical struggle within Islam. It's only going to be solved by Muslims choosing to abandon more radical and puritanical ideals in favor of moderation. And our actions and policies in the region are driving more people towards fundamentalism and violence. Many people are going to grow up hating the US because of the occupation, because of our presence in the region... and holding a grudge is something of a matter of pride in Islam.
We can only work to solve this by making our presence scarce... working towards righting the wrongs. And... GOD FORBID... maybe issuing an APOLOGY for killing innocent people? That might go a long way towards building a lot of good will. The US needs some serious PR work. Not a military solution. Let the rest of the Muslim world worry about the Wahabis. Work with our allies in the region. Be a silent partner to protect our oil interests. But we don't need to maintain military bases. We don't need to occupy any countries.
Many morons will tell you, "WE NEED TO KILL THEM ALL". Really, huh? You are going to become the thought police and kill every single person who believes in a fundamentalist interpretation of Islam? Every single person who preaches jihad? Every person who harbors ill will towards America?
That's a lot of people you are going to have to kill. It smacks of genocide, IMO.
Maybe if we're not flushing hundreds of billions of dollars down the toilet on silly wars, we could use that money to protect America from such threats. And you know what, such protection is "all purpose". It wouldn't just stop the Islamic fundies... but anyone who would attempt to blow up a building, set off a nuke, release a chemical agent, or whatever. Considering we have some serious security flaws in this country, wouldn't we be better served using our resources for defense, rather than a horribly inefficient offensive effort that only addresses one threat? And to be perfectly frank, we aren't getting a lot for our money.
But then again, I'm just some random internet asshat, what do I know, right?
I'll await the inevitable dumbass responses to my post. joncha tells me I shouldn't bother with any serious posting... that I should just troll you idiots. For some reason, I still feel that there is hope for you retards. But I'll say this. Some people understand that my posting style is deliberate, calculated, and that I am essentially a character.
