"God helps those that help themselves. If he's not interested in helping himself or his family and is to the point where he's starting to screw over his other relatives, there's little chance of Lancer being able to."
DinoDoc, this goes to the heart of the question. In fact I know that I am my brother's keeper. However, I was doing that until he screwed me over. Bit the hand that fed him so to speak... A better question would be, am I still my brother's keeper? How much does a guy have to get gnawed on before he is no longer his brother's keeper?
We still provide the most basic stuff... I even bought a cement mixer for the family that he is allowed to use to help him get work. Not alot of laborers come with cement mixers so it should help alot. It belongs to Dolores and I and I told him if he sold the bloody thing I wouldn't know him anymore.
che, commies are their brother's keeper until the brothers all want to be kept. 'As long as the government pretends to pay me, I'll pretend to work' is the saying of the workers in the workers paradise. Too many dachas on the Black Sea for the party favorites, not enough power to the people to fix the mess. Imo this, or capitalism, (as in China) is the inevitable result of communism. It's a system that can't do anything but fail because in it there is no good reason to excell.Long time member @ Apolyton

Lancer, you did the exact right thing
All of us need help from time to time, and you provided more than enough to Boni over the years. There's a difference between helping some find his own way in life and doing everything for that person. There's a difference between acting as a step ladder and as a footrest
For reasons unknown, Boni had decided to make some bonehead decisions: ripping up his family, using other people's money to gamble with, etc.. He's got to learn that making bad decisions has bad consequences. Losing his family, the roof over his head, and a steady steam of income will drive this point home.
But I see that you're also still providing him with a path to succeed. By giving him access to Dolores' cement mixer, you're helping him to get jobs, to contribute to society, to act responsibly, and to turn away from all that cr*p he was doing before.
Just because he's no longer on the family dole doesn't mean you're not acting as your brother's keeper. By teaching him self-reliance and responsiblity, you're helping him gain things more valuable than anything he could have possibly purchased with your money.

Zkrib, thanks. That opinion means alot to me. Alot.
Rufus, Dolores is in agreement with everything we're doing and suggested much of it. She proposed the milk for the kids and also kicking him out of the house. She was very hurt by his actions and takes it as a betrayal of her trust, which is what it in fact was. I know what you mean though. Alot of Filipinas would have let it slide, and insisted the money continue.Long time member @ Apolyton

You're a good man, Lancer. Probably a better one than I would be in a similar situation. Much respect.I make no bones about my moral support for [terrorist] organizations. - chegitz guevara
