"And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you—ask what you can do for your country. My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man." -- JFK Inaugural, 1961
"Extremism in the defense of liberty is not a vice." -- Barry Goldwater, 1964 GOP Nomination acceptance speech (not George W. Bush 40 years later...)

I'm quite surprised that the first mammalian organ or appendage to be regenerated with this sort of technique (a technique which has been discussed for years) was a penis. IIRC genital tissue is notorious for it's poor healing potential. In any event I would have thought the effort to replace fingers or toes would not only be easier to pioneer but would also have received far more attention as there are far more people missing fingers and toes.
I've always believed that any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from porn.
"You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours."--General Sir Charles James Napier
A finger is more complex because of the variety of tissue types contained therein.

not really. They have about the same tissue diversity. it's just that the innate healing properties of the digits fall just short of allowing complete regeneration. In fact very young kids sometimes regenerate an entire fingertip.

You have to be kidding. We're talking about our penises here. Who cares about a damn finger.
