Anybody here ever read Harvard Lampoon's "Bored of the Rings.'
There's a description of the city of Minestrone, which is tiered like a wedding cake. The people in the top level throw their garbage down on the people on the second level. They in turn throw their garbage down on the people on the third level. And so on down to the last level. The discription ends "It's not known what the people of the bottom level do with their garbage, but the rumor is, they eat it."
