Archaeologists still argue the contact between the The Peruvians and Mexicans was limited at best, and yet they share religious/astrological
"visions" of Heaven with common features:

1 Both viewed Heaven as layered
2 13 levels to be exact
3 The creator has a duality that occupies 2 levels in Heaven

speculation: 9 planets, sun and moon make up 11 and the creator is an interloper with a comet-like orbit. This is what the Inca envisioned as their Heaven - sun and moon on either side of a large ellipse (the Incan "creator") separating (or connecting) 2 groups of "stars", 4 below the ellipse and 5 at or near the other end. The only problem with the picture is the group of 5 at the upper end of the ellipse should actually be near the bottom with the group of 4 just below it with the bottom of the ellipse cutting between the 2 groups. Could be a minor detail, the Incan "Genesis" was drawn by a noble from memory of having seen the gold plating in the Holy of Holies before the Spanish melted it down.

The Toltecs/Aztecs also spoke of the 9 Lords of the Night, hence the appearance of 9-stepped pyramids. The Inca depicted 9 "stars" in close proximity to their creator - again, an ellipse. Oh, another oddity - ever been to "Newspaper Rock" near Moab, Utah? It looks like Indians carved their creation story onto a rock face darkened with patina and it has survived largely intact inspite of later carvings and vandalism. Above the story is a horned deity standing on or above 11 "sheep" lined up horizontally across the face.
