They were never considered part of the 2nd World. Only Eastern Europe and the USSR were part of the 2nd World.

The "worlds" had more to do with politics than economics. 1st = West, 2nd = USSR and sattilites, 3rd everybody else. At a certain point, given that the1st world was also very developed and the 3rd world basically ****holes, folks began using the terms to describe economic development.

The economically redefined worlds were: 1st Western Europe, US, Canada, Japan, Oz, & NZ; 2nd the Soviet Bloc, 3rd, countries which were developing and didn't need aid, 4th, countries which could develop but needed aid, and 5th, failed countries, ala Haiti & Bangledesh.

Only in your fantasy world, Neddie. Consider that states where the DP runs things, have much higher wages, better job security, and are somewhat less anti-union than GOP states. The exception is Florida, and that's only cause we have a voter initiative which allows us to force the politicians to do our bidding.

In what way? If anything a huge influx of ilegals becoming legal offer huge recruiting opportunities for unions. My thought is unions are salivating at the opportunity to tap huge numbers of under priveledged workers.
