  • So what politician would you like to fix America in '09?

Everything seems pretty doom and gloom... America is moderately screwed(see many other posts on the subject for the last 6 years-to his credit Bush is not entirely responsible, he just took a bad situation and made it much, much worse). The last six years could of been pivotal in stopping the growth of the Chinese economy, if nothing else, we are doomed to eventual economic subversion to China.

Who would you pin your hopes on in '09 for the presidency? Lets limit to choices which have at least a small chance of wining.

Not sure about '09, I'm holding out for Arnold's '10 coup, which will be characterized by unusually relaxed smoking laws, ham-fisted attempts at nationalisitic unity, and a civil administration which is fully described by the word "impotent." This will be followed by the secession of Pacifica (California, Oregon and Washington) and the Dakotan-Canadian wars of '12 and '16, in which the valiant North Dakotans are saved only by the timely rebellion of the Quebecois from their brutal Anglo-Canadian taskmasters.

But really, there are no good candidates. I'm waiting for the day when I can vote in Gavin Newsom, who will certainly make America a place of cosmopolitan fashionability and social harmony previously unheard of outside the Castro district of San Francisco.

The US is going along well. I'm optimistic about the country's future.

I would worry more about bureaucrats and politicians trying to "fix" things that aren't broken.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

I like Newsom, but he's too wet behind the ears right now. Perhapse in 20 years or so.

I'd go with Guilliani/Obama or any mixed ticket that doesn't include Hillary or any croney from the Bush admin. Powell was smart to leave. A Powell/Liberman ticket would be interseting. I don't know about Jeb Bush, we have already seen that the apple can fall far from the tree.

6 years ago Powell could of had a moderate amount of support from DEMOCRATS who respected his integrity.....

He has shown now he has none, if this would effect the average voter, who knows....

Ves: The proper grammar is "could have" or "could've", not "could of"...that doesn't make sense.
