You get what you pay for.

It's not THAT terrible, but downtown is far superior.

As for location, I'd suggest anything within walking distance of a metro station. Most metro stations are 10 minutes from Guy-Concordia. I think the absolute furthest away you could be is 30 minutes, but that's an estimate.

You can find appartments within walking distance of the campus itself, but those will cost you more no doubt.

I couldn't really tell you more than that.

What you going to be studying?
I lived 5 minutes walk away from the downtown Concordia campus in 2000-2001. It was a 2 bedroom and cost me and my roommate each 350$ a month. By the way, in Montreal we don't go by number of bedrooms; we call a 1 bedroom a 1 1/2, a 2 bedroom without den (or with a small den) a 3 1/2 and a 2 bedroom with a large den a 4 1/2. After that, just add one for every bedroom. So 3 people living together (no couples) would need a 5 1/2, etc.

Ludd, I don't know if the rent has exploded in the last 5 years, but you might want to see if the building (it was one of two red buildings on Summerhill ave. off of Cote des Neiges, just above Sherbrooke) still has good deals

Heat&hot water was included in that, by the way. That's pretty important...

Find local businesses, view maps and get driving directions in Google Maps.

a lady friend of mine lived on St. Marc, just about right next door to Concordia. Heat+water included, 1 1/2, think it was $600 a month.

              1 1/2 is more expensive than sharing a 3 1/2 or a 4 1/2

A friend of my mom's mentioned that she knew of a 4 1/2 for $610 a month in verdun. It's impossible to say without seeing the place, but it seems like it would be a good deal if I could find a room mate (or two) what's the area like?

                  My father's from Verdun/Ville-Emard.

Basically it's full of homes from the 40s/50s inhabited until recently by factory workers.

                  Could be the next Plateau
