  • So, I'm moving to montreal

I know there's a few people on this forum who live there, and I wouldn't mind some advice on where to look for an apartment. Ideally, I would like to find a vegan co-op house to live in but untill then, anywhere that's cheap and in a relatively nice enviornment will do. I'll be attending classes at Concorida, so I'll need easy access to the downtown area. Are there any neighbourhoods I should look for or avoid?

Hey, who invited you to North America!?!
Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

Nobody did, I was born here. A better question to ask is why I haven't been exiled yet.

I only wish I was born in Quebec. The tuition fees are halved if you are a resident of the province.

Finding an appartment can be hard. They are in great demand with little supply. If you don't mind a roomate, there are quite a few postings littered around Concordia, listing all sorts of different opportunities. Also you might try craigslist if you want to find something before you arive. But Montreal still hasn't truly discovered craigslist.

As for location, I'd suggest anything within walking distance of a metro station. Most metro stations are 10 minutes from Guy-Concordia. I think the absolute furthest away you could be is 30 minutes, but that's an estimate.

You can find appartments within walking distance of the campus itself, but those will cost you more no doubt.

I couldn't really tell you more than that.

What you going to be studying?

Yes, the tuition fees are nice and low.

But our school library is what pays for it. They don't have nearly enough selection, specially when an entire class needs to research the same thing.

            General Ludd!
Montreal is a great city to study and to live!

Near concordia the price will be very high. Since concordia is placed near the downtown of Montreal: there are few app but many commerces, McGill university and UQAM are not so far.

There several beautiful place to live in Montreal: St-Joseph/Des Erables, Quartier Rosemont!!!

Try to see near Rosemont; but everywhere in Montreal the price of appt are rising.

You can live in Longueuil, it's a relatively small-town(around 200 000) just across the St-Laurent river. It's pretty easy to commute. There a subway station from Longueuil who go to the main station in Montreal.

If you want to see Quebec City; write me a email, or pm me! It will be my pleasure to invite you.

General Ludd, I live in Longueuil. With Bus+Metro, it takes me about 40 minutes to get to Concordia, from my door to the class room. If you don't mind that, you'll save a bunch on rent. Might be harder to find english roomates, if that matters.

You'll find veggan coops around the Plateau and Rosemont. If you're looking for granos my guess is that there will be more of them if you hang out with the French types, around the UQAM.

What you going to be studying?
Fine Arts with a major in Ceramics. (Which I guess means that cheapness is particularily important for me).

Incidentally, I did the math last night and estimated that in order to pay off the student loans that I'll need, I would have to sell 2 mugs every day between now and the day I graduate. (which isn't as bad as I thought)

I've been considering moving back to Montreal to study at McGill, but I'm not sure I'm ready to leave Provence so soon
