Belgium is probably the most left-wing country in the world, even more than the Scandinavian countries (though you couldn't tell from our election results, but then again our liberals and christian-democrats are rather left-wing when compared to their foreign brethren).
So why the hell would we want to join with the Netherlands, with the conservative likes of Balkenende?
