A soda can is 12 ounces (3-5 cans). Maybe they're smaller in China (you know, for people that aren't fatasses like us.)
Those who drink a lot of soda in one day on a daily basis . . . .
Unless they discover something about Dr Pepper, I'm probably facing three threats:
(I am not a doctor. Do not use this post as medical advice. I've probably grossly misstated one or more points. If you know more, correct me, but don't call me a moron, I'm already doing that here: I am a moron about health. Now go crazy...)
-Heart problems, from excess caffeine and or sugar. The amount of caffeine is only equivalent to 1 or 2 cups of coffee, which millions of people drink and never bat an eye at. I would need to be guzzling a lot more to be in need of worry.
-Obesity, from "empty calories" or maybe sugar? The way I see it, if I burn them off with some activity, and yes I am getting vitamins from other sources, I'm fine. If I was leading a sedentary life, I couldn't get away with half that much.
-Kidney stones. Wikipedia says kidney stones are likely to hit people with diets deficient in calcium. (I know, I know, they're made by calcium. It confuses me too.) I drink about 3 glasses of milk a day too. Also IIRC they hit people who are dehydrated, don't have a lot of water, I have it covered, 3-4 glasses of water a day. Yes, that's about 9-10 drinks a day, I probably pee more than average, if I'm ripping up my insides, let me know but I think that's the only effect.
Myth about sodas:
* Coke will not dissolve a nail. If it was as strong as claimed, then they wouldn't be able to hold it in a cheap can or bottle, and if you spilled it it would burn off your fingers. The natural acids in your stomach would beat coke in a fight any day of the year.

What's the point, then?

It's got carbonic acid, which isn't exactly good for your health. And don't forget the heaps of sugar in every can...

Spiking your blood sugar level that often will probably also lead to an increased risk of type-II diabetes. There might be other health effects associated with this too.
I average about a can of soda a day or so. Sometimes more, sometimes less.

In the rare occurences where I drank coffee as a child, it made me hyper indeed. Also, when I started really consuming coffee (in my late teens), the effect was pretty strong at the beginning, I wouldn'turs and ho be sleepy for hours with a single cup.
Nowadays, I use coffee to help digest the b reakfast or the meal, so that I'm not too sleepy immediately afterwards. For long-term wakedness, I drink juices with vitamins.
I never drink coffee after or during a meal, it messes up the digestion and makes me extremely drowsy.
