computers are a luxury item, everyone needs gas. That said, Price gouging isn't the cause of the high prices.

I'm willing to bet that if pharma companies didn't bother to reinvest into R&D they would see a lot higher profit margins than that.

That's not the fairest comparison. The reason pharmas make so much is precisely to invest money in R&D.

Using liquid hydrogene routinely in AC's ???? Transporting the nessecary amount from factory to AC's ???? Planes in trouble dumps their fuel before landing - doing that with LH ???? You need to keep the **** fluid wich means coolig - goes fine in 10 km's height, but circling in low altitudes ????

They make so much because they can. It's a lot even after R&D.

That's an average, not current numbers.

The average over time is what matters. Taking a snapshot during a price spike is pretty meaningless.

Interesting fact for comparison: State and Federal Treasuries "Profit" More from Gasoline Sales than U.S. Oil Industry

But... like, Tax is like unfair profit! I mean, um...

Actually, I discard the whole bit about tax revenue from gas vs. oil industry profits (apples, oranges). The interesting part of that article is the boom/bust nature of the oil/gas industry.
