People who would try to pass themselves off as a veteran are descipable. I sure hope for OP's mother that this person is harmless.

It could be this person or somebody similar.

To a real vet, a phony vet is the lowest of the low.
I imagine a real vet dont like being accused of being a phony vet then

I did use mine once about three years ago to get a VA loan for a house.

A real one wouldn't act phony.

I think you get one time to use that. I'm still holding on to that one. In case I decide to buy a nice house (instead of the ****ty one I have now)

I believe there was a dollar limit on the loan. You won't be able to do too nice.

I have had to show mine 3 times. I was told to have it recorded with the county when I was discharge, had to show it when I went to work at Mare Island Naval Shipyard and 2 months ago when I join the VA. I was involve in operation SHAD back in 63 and so the VA sent me a letter stating that I should joint so if any health issus show up, I can be treated by the VA. Of course DOD has not yet told the VA what issues may come up.

I filed my first one but not my recent one from Iraq. I have it in the dresser drawer I keep my birth certificate and my car's pink slip. I may get around to it one day but I likely can't be bothered.

                                You don't want to know.

                                Here is some info though.
