I don't know. This doesn't sound right. As Speer says, this doesn't make sense.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

Well, it makes sense in that the Texans defense is terrible.

Trash. The defense has a lot less probs than the offense.

My guess is that one way or another, by the end of the day, Reggie Bush will be wearing New York Jets green and white. Of the top four teams, they were always most in need of a running back (to replace Curtis, who finally started to hit the wall last year) - yes, even more so than Houston. Let's face it, the knee-jerk reaction is that the Texans are passing on a one-in-a-lifetime player - but they're doing it at the cost of filling a more critical need. (It's not as though Domanick Davis is a slouch or something.)

There's two ways they can go about it: The Jets can stand pat, hope New Orleans isn't tempted to draft Bush (they'd have to think about it a few times since the Saints do have Deuce) or to trade down with someone behind the Jets (Tennessee is not budging and there's no way they draft Bush; they desperately need a quarterback); or they could be on the phone right now with draft picks in hand. If the Jets are smart, bet on the latter.

They were unequivocally the worst defense in the league.

right, but how many draft defensive players make a huge impact in their 6 year contract?

Note that sacks weren't recorded in his rookie season.

Richard Seymour? Jonathon Vilma? Brian Urlacher? Julius Peppers? Dwight Freeney?

You know, I'm sure they could have found one of the teams right behind them (like Jets or Tennessee) to exchange 1st round picks and then pick up even one 3rd rounder and still get their man (or if the Saints take him then they had A.J. Hawk, who may have just as good a career as Williams).

I guess that the top five or so teams are all pretty content with where they are. The top of this draft is very good, and even the Packers will get a choice of two out of Hawk, Williams, Leinart, Bush, Ferguson, and Davis. And if you think Vince Young's worthy of a top five pick, you have even more choices.

New Orleans is probably sitting pretty nicely right now. Tennessee, NY Jets, and Green Bay are probably all over the phones right now to them!

Stupid Stupid decision. One DE does not a defense make. If they were going to strengthen the defense, they should have traded down. DUMB DUMB DUMB. I never really understood why they sucked before. Now I do. And it doesn't matter how bad their defense is, if they can't score points, they can't win. And without bush to take some of the pressure off of Carr, who is actually a decent QB IMHO, he's going to be a tackling dummy again this year. What a joke.
