  • Digital Camera:

    Hi!

I want to buy a new digital camera.

The camera has to be good to take outside picture. Specially in low-light condition...(like Night Picture)

I was thinking about the Fuji Finepix E900.

    So, what your advice.

    Thank you!

        DSLR is too expensive.

Get one with a good lens. I like the Panasonic Lumix series because it uses Leica lenses. I also have an Yashica mechanical SLR because it can use Contax lenses.

Just use a tripod, and if needed, a shutter cord.

Really best to stick with the brands that are known for photography. Fuji is ok, but I've never heard anything stellar about them. Canon and Olympus regular produce quality cameras. Canon is great for small affordable cameras for people without much photography experience. Just something you want to point and shoot without worrying about settings.

You really shouldn't have too much trouble with night pictures, with most modern cameras. For lenses, in this case, an aperture of at least F2.8 is good and fairly common among good camera brands. Less is harder to find. Mine is F1.8 and I'm able to take night pictures with out a flash at a decently fast shutter speed. However, it requires some experimentation to perfect, but that's what I wanted.

I have a Fuji Finepix and it is pretty good in low or artificial light. I recently visited the Bovington Tank museum and happily wandered around taking pictures inside without flash and still got fast enough shutter speeds to do so with the camera handheld rather than needing a tripod. It also does well ouside.

For night use get a tripod and use the self timer. I bought a full size Hama brand (German) tripod from Amazon UK which is good quality and wasn't too expensive. Also worth getting a mini tripod which you can carry in the camera case and set up on the hood of a car or any other convenient surface to take longer exposure pictures.

In Canada, the price of a DSLR is about 1000$ and higher. I Dont want to spend a lot of money on a digi cam. But thank you!( I want to pay around 500$CND)

I had 2 Fuji digicam; Finepix 3000, Fuji A340. I really liked these cameras, but as I become more and more experienced, I need something with more manual control. ...

For now, I'm thinking to buy one of these cameras:
FUJIFILM FINEPIX E900 (9meg with 4x opti zoom)
FUJIFILM FINEPIX S5200 (5meg with 10x opti zoom)

But as some guys said earlier in the thread; I'll look for other company(Panasonic, Canon, Olympus).

              see ya

You'll have more fun with the greater zoom. And 5 meg is good. It's not like you're going to be taking photos for billboards, are you?
