I used to have a t-shirt with that artwork on it. I was a huge fan of the band. The graphic is IIRC computer generated -- no mean feat back in the day.

I miss that shirt. I miss artsy punk rock...

One of the greatest album covers ever. The zipper was functional. Another reason that CD cover art is, by definition, a pale imitation.

I guess now would be a bad time to mention that I bought albums for the music, not the cover art.
"And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you—ask what you can do for your country. My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man." -- JFK Inaugural, 1961
"Extremism in the defense of liberty is not a vice." -- Barry Goldwater, 1964 GOP Nomination acceptance speech (not George W. Bush 40 years later...)

These are albums I bought in the early 70s, just because of the cool cover art. The group, Osibisa, was sort of a African-prog rock-jazz thing. Their obscurity made them even cooler...

          Osibisa - Woyaya

          Osibisa - Osibisa

This was several years later. Yep, same story. Cool Roger Dean cover, so I took a chance...

Another favorite -- an actual 16 mm film canister embossed with the band's logo. From 1979.

Public Image Ltd. - Metal Box

PiL was John Lydon's (aka Johnny Rotten) post-Sex Pistols, post-punk band. The album consisted of three 12" 45 rpm discs. Pretty outrageous.

A very underappreciated artist - Mati Klarwein

              Santana - Abraxas

              Miles Davis - *****es Brew

Eeeeeeefficiency and progress are ours once-a-more...

"Beware of the man who works hard to learn something, learns it, and finds himself no wiser than before. He is full of murderous resentment of people who are ignorant without having come by their ignorance the hard way. "
