  • OMG, this is TEH EVIL!

Just read an article on a German site (for those who can read German it's here: http://www.spiegel.de/netzwelt/techn...411910,00.html )

It says that Philips has a patent on a certain technology that prevents you from switching channels on your tv when ads are running Even worse, they also have something that makes it impossible to fast-forward these ads on recorder units......

I think these are truly evil inventions. Maybe Ming's behind them

If such units are actually built and sold is another matter the article says, since many customers probably wouldn't accept that stuff.

I saw that...I'm pretty sure consumer outrage would kill this quickly...

Now if they would invent something that would automatically change the channel to another when commercials start then change the channel back when the commercials finish, that would be something.

I think Phillips is doing us a favor, volunteering to pay the money to patent this so EVIL companies can't use it. Incidently, if they are EVIL enough to use this EVIL technology and obviously intend to do so exclusively it will just drive up the sales of their competetors.

they'll probably try to phase out older tvs and soley replace them with this, or alternatively offer these tvs much cheaper then non-crap tvs. The government should hit back and ban advertising on Cable though since users are already paying for it.

I bet there's a massive conspiracy underway to get them a monopoly in the tv business, so then we'll have no other choice
