Well, plus, it's a GREAT way to use up our older munitions and test out our next-gen military hardware....work the kinks out of it and stuff.

Can't we have a real jungle war again though. They do make for much, much better movies in general imo.

Ok, Three kings is good but all the rest are pure sheit compared ot what Vietnam gave us.

C'mon go for Korea (they must some jungle, right. Never been there, so I don't really know. ), pretty please...

          Black Hawk Down was good

I would blame the war setting as the problem for some of the crap movies coming out

Analysing the last 16 posts, I see only four words ("we need more wars" by Alex) which are not spamiform. The machineotbot has a wide improvement field in front of it.

Black Hawk Down was a real piss off. Thanks for reminding me. Somalia needs to be craterized.

I think Somalia pretty much has, and continues, to punish itself.

I really don't see a way to do a limited war with just air strikes. The Iranians would likely retaliate on the ground and then we'd have a full blown ground war on our hands so it's either regime change or nothing. We certainly don't have the manpower for yet another war so I'm thinking the realists will force Rumsfield to see reason on this one.

How exactly do you think they will attack us on the ground?

I ask this because I honeslty don't see their rallied forces getting to their own border, let alone attacking us.

I would imagine any retaliation would be against the fleet in the gulf. There is almost zero hope of that doing anything either, but they actually have the capability of try with much less loss.

Unless you just mean insurgent help.

Just wait and see what God tells Mr Bush, that seems like a solid foundation for a decision.

This is not meant as a slap to either you, Sloww, or anybody else on this site. I just want to point this out. A while back, I made a much more humorous comment, about how brown people can't handle democracy. It was rather sarcastic, and yet it was deemed racist.

Of course, we now know that Iranians are not Iraqis; Iranians are animals, being Persian, whereas Arabs, like the Iraqis, cannot be called "brown people".

Alva, you obviously have no ****ing clue.

Korea doesn't have jungles. It's very mountainous terrain with reasonably heavy winters and lots of forests. Not to mention that the South is extremely urbanized and has been designed with urban combat in mind, meaning that warfare would be far more painful than in Iraq.

And that's just the South. The North, being a garrison state, would likely be worse.

All they have to do is threaten movement of shipping through the Straits of Hormuz, and the global economy will go ****sville. It doesn't matter what they can actually do - it matters what yuppie futures traders in New York think they might be able to do.

Right now, the Iranians aren't far enough along to justify the political and economin risk or tying up more of our military capacity.
