Oh, Asher, about that chart of yours...
That's nothing, just take a look at THIS:
Not sure how the chart is misleading, seeing as it's clearly labeled and a very simple chart. Maybe it's confusing for the Liberal Art readers?

So are Psychology (well, it's kinda quasi) and International Studies science and not arts? They have a lot of math too.
Psychology and International Studies don't nearly have the same math as Economics does...

I was looking at the sociology PhD program in UChicago, and they want people coming in with a significant background in mathematics.
" Significant background in mathematics" is relative. It's probably very tough to find anyone in sociology who knows the basics of real mathematics, rather than arithmetic.

Having read the definitions of 'liberal arts', it just looks like a rightwing macguffin. The wikipedia article gives a different interpretation, saying that historically they incorporated astronomy and pure mathematics. It doesn't mention the 'non-science' interpretation.
Err, nonscience is how it is defined in US university systems..

What about social sciences then? That's almost like socialist sciences...
