      • Yeah, Economics as a Liberal Art doesn't make sense. It requires math, which requires thinking, and that's totally alien to Liberal Arts.

Other arts degrees require math too. The best international studies programs do. Same with the best psychology ones. They are just more applied math as opposed to theory.

          • So which Branch did you settle on?
And does it make use of Liberal Arts?

            • I didn't settle on a branch, I just ranked them. Occifers can't choose their branch.

                • With 1 I eventually want to change branches, but the math I've done can help. 2 I probably won't get because of color blindness. Psych is useful with 3 and 4. 5 not really...6 is the same as 1 in that I don't want to stay in it. Unlikely I'll get it anyway. 7, 8 & 9 all have uses. The others I don't want so I'll just pretend my list ends at 9.

                  1. Field Artillery
                  2. Armor
                  3. Military Intelligence
                  4. Medical Services
                  5. Engineers
                  6. Infantry
                  7. Adjutant General
                  8. Signal Corps
                  9. Finance
                  10. Aviation
                  11. Air Defense
                  12. Military Police
                  13. Ordnance Corps
                  14. Quartermaster Corps

Not true. Most Economics programs around the country are in the "Arts" section, even when requiring Calculus, Statistics, etc.

Only a very small number of school have Economics as a "Science".

                    • So? The subject is still more science than liberal art.

                          • I must have stopped to early in economics to see the science aspect of it. I almost entirely heard BAMs and ex-post rationalizations.

Edit: and the math was utterly sucky too.

So are Psychology (well, it's kinda quasi) and International Studies science and not arts? They have a lot of math too.

It's a social science, just like Political Science, Sociology, or Psychology. Economists just usually use more quantitatively rigorous methods when they conduct research.

There is more of a push though to incorporate Math into other Social Sciences such as Poli Sci, as researches in that field are trying to use math(especially statistics) to back up their claims.
