Most people consider Liberal Arts to be any major with a BA attached.

Liberal Arts is, as Apoc stated, anything which a degree in a Bachelor of Arts is given. This encompases Political Science, History, Philosophy, English, Foriegn Languages, Sociology, Antropology, Economics (in some schools) etc. Humanities and Social Science stuff.

Its in the Liberal Arts catagory, along with Education. But a lot of students major in "Liberal Arts" not history, not education, just general, useless classes. When I said "Liberal Arts Majors" I didn't mean to refer to the broad catagory, I was referring to that single specific major.

Like in Business. You can get a major in Business Administration, which is just general. You didn't take any specialized direction, like Finance or Accounting. Just casually took some business courses. A Liberal Arts Major is someone who take specialized History, or Education classes, they just took the generalized Liberal Arts classes.

No they don't. In fact, you'll have to point to me a "Liberal Arts" major, for I have never seen a university offer one. Mine sure didn't (Rutgers University).

What Imran and Apocalypse said. "Liberal Arts" is pretty much a generic term for most non-science degrees. In North America, that would typically include everything from English to Philosophy to History to Political Science to Economics.

I have 3 friends that got Liberal Arts majors. Two are currently going to school in their spare time to get a more specialized degree. Actually the major was Bachelor of Liberal Studies.

I've seen General Arts degrees before too (that's what they were called at UBC). One of my friends got one. They're pretty rare, relatively speaking, though.
