Is it good policy to give financial aid to liberal arts majors?

    • i have trouble with my internet... sometimes the load seem to freeze.

      But I have a question;

I think asher is right about the fact that we have too many student in humanities/arts.
      Ex:
In economics we have the same number of profs as the pol departments, but with the 1/5 of students.

Do you think the solution is to raised the fees? The requirement?

        How much is Microsoft worth?

How much does the Federal government spend every year?

        Which number is bigger?

In short, Bush decides how more money is used than Bill Gates does, even if he makes far less.

Is this the kind of thinking your liberal arts degree taught you?
I really don;t need to study anything to be able to state the obvious.

Also, weren;t you the one saying that social sciences are not liberal arts? Stop contradicting yourself.

It's not Bush's money, though. That makes him a *****, and Bill a master.

          "far less" is an understatement.

In 1964 he went on to study physics at the University of Strasbourg in France. On a Ford scholarship, Fujimori also attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in the United States, where he obtained his master's degree in mathematics in 1969.

A lot of the Chinese leadership come from science backgrounds as well, IIRC. Seems like a physics degree is good preparation for a future as an authoritarian ruler...

            • Well, it makes sense. Scientists don't tolerate failure, and most civil servants and politicians are miserable failures. Why deal with them?

No, I am the guy who investigates police misconduct. You know, the guy who gets to learn how policing works (and doesn't), the guy who gets to see documents to verify people's stories (including poring over people's medical records [doctors need to be taught penmanship]), and then recommends actions that might have actual consequences with people's lives and work.

Certainly a sight more interesting than writing paper about data mining chemical data bases

Oh, and even in that previous job was more interesting. And with far greater responsibilities. Even if low paid.

Actually, its the fact that he decides how other people's money is to be used that shows he has the power in the end.

And the fact that he's one among millions of liberal arts majors shows that your argument is worthless.

I have a BA, so you can't expect me to understand things like this...

What did he do his undergrad in?

He went on to undergraduate studies at the Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molina in 1957, graduating in 1961 first in his class as an agricultural engineer.

edit: I guess you were asking about GePap, not Fujimori. Shame really, as Fujimori is by far the more interesting subject...

Well, it depends what you're talking about. The work I've been doing (and you can read the exciting draft of my paper here ) is researching an area that will directly aid research labs around the world in doing research with NMR, which is very important to all kinds of biochem research around the world that has very real impacts in fields such as medicine...

That is a sight more interesting than paperwork about how a corrupt cop in New York made a racial slur to a Mexican immigrant. Particularly because it's treading new ground, and doing something on the grand scale of things -- not the minute paperwork details.

Oh, and even in that previous job was more interesting. And with far greater responsibilities. Even if low paid.
My previous job involved playing on the fastest computer in the world optimizing software to predict hurricanes and how to dispose of nuclear stockpiles safely. That's much more interesting to me than mindless paperwork about police misconduct.

                                Man, physics is that unpopular?
