as I said, I wasn't sure they allow you to walk in the tunnel. Riding on a train doesn't count.

But wait, if he's walking around the world he needs to get back to where he started in South America. Is there anyway that a person could walk from Europe to the Artic ice pack and then down to Canada?

I saw a program on Discovery about a Trans-Atlantic Tunnel stretching from London to New York...

Whats the point? It would take waay longer than by plane unless they could get the train up past 500 mph (but if you crash at those speeds, its all over)

While if you crash in a plane it isn't...

if you crash a train at 500 mph in a tunnel, you'll wreck the tunnel along with the train. when you crash a plane at 500 mph, all you do is wreck the plane.

Which is why this guy who's being detained by the Russians has the right idea. Use your legs to get around, just take your time, and you won't wreck anything!

Apparently this maglev train travels at 5000 mph

You can get a maglev that fast in such a tunnel if the tunnel was a vacuum. Then again a self contained tunnel floating water would be ideal for having a vacuum. Say good bye to wind resistance.

Of course the whole thing is a pipe dream which would cost way to much to ever be practical.
