i hate what strikes me as the dumbing down of japanese culture to fit white male perceptions ie: all japan is anime, crazy tv shows, degrading sexual practices for women, hentai, etc etc.

it just seems to me westerners love all that is a charactiture of japan.

Hey, I don't even like Anime. I did like Ghost in the Shell and.. really just feature big films. So it's not my thing, but I do like Japanese cinema a lot. And yes I did before Battle Royale and those things came out, but I guess it doesn't matter. Because I like Japanese cinema, I therefore like Japanese pop culture, and that inevitably leads me to ignorance to true Japanese culture, old traditions, history etc. Really sad. I guess I can never ever take an interest to anything anymore since I'll always be a newbie who is in it for the ride, the big wave and then hop off.. this must be true.
